Ok - well, I am new to the blogging thing. I just decided I would go ahead and start one (with encouragement from my sister, Jen) When you have two children who are hilarious, I guess It's a good thing to keep record of it somewhere - and so why not the world wide web.
It is ridiculously HOT today! The temperature right now is 105 degrees. I don't know how anyone even breathes outside when it's this hot! Cayden had a baseball game, but not enough kids showed up, so they had to forfeit, yet they still decided to scrimmage the other team. ??? Do we WANT our kids to suffer from heat stroke?
We are celebrating one of Zak's great-aunt's 80th birthday this evening! It's going to be so fun - and lots of great food!
We went to the cancer walk last night. Zak had never been - and was very impressed. Another evening with lots of great food!
I just got back from spending a week with mom in Houston. Drove her to and from her treatments (as well as many other places in Houston). It was such a nice visit - lots of time to relax too. I got home Tuesday evening, and on Wednesday, I jumped back into gear and started trying to get myself caught up. Being away from home is never a vacation really, because you always have so much to do when you get back! Zak did a great job, though, keeping the house picked up and taking care of the kids. I was so proud of him, and thankful that I knew everyone was taken care of.
Thought for the day:
"If you've gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don't push your way to the front; don't sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don't be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.
Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. He had equal status with God but didn't think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn't claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion." (Philipians 2:1-8)
