God said PRAY....

With the recent election, I received a bit of slack because I didn't have my 'ducks in a row' and wasn't able to vote. I called to find the location where I was to vote, and they said I wasn't even registered! Since it had been so long since I last voted (try 2004 during the Bush/Kerry presidential election) I had been 'purged' from the system. Because of the 28 day waiting period after you register, I was unfortunately left out of this election.

While I believe voting is our civil duty, and it is an important thing to partake of....I also am disgusted by the kinds of people we are expected to vote for. It is a 'lesser of two evils' every election. We have career politicians who forget what it's actually like to be a business owner or a simple employee. It turns people off completely from even getting involved or believing they can do anything about what's going on in Washington because the majority involved are corrupt. Plus they overwhelm us with their ability to bash their opponent during their campaign.

And whether I vote or not, God tells us to PRAY. That is our first and foremost important civil duty to our country. HE is the only one who will heal our land! In 2 Chronicles 7:14 he says this,

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Notice he doesn't say 'it would take everyone in the nation' he didn't say 'go around and have people sign petitions and drum up votes' he says humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways...

If one person can certainly change the world for the WORST then we can definitely believe that one person can change the world for the BETTER! It just takes someone with God's power within him! God and I together can change the nation! Just imagine if it was God and I AND ALL HIS PEOPLE joining together, agreeing in prayer, for the sake of our nation! WOW what amazing things can be done!

This makes me feel a little better about not making it to the polls on Tuesday. And the fact that one of the candidates that I planned to vote for won and supports an issue that weighs heavily on my heart.

Thanks, Bethany!
