Needless to say, the aftershock of the full day in the sun has worn on me today! I'm a little sunburned and a little sore!
And why do people say "Needless to say"?? If it's 'needless to say' then why do we still say it? haha sorry - just had that random thought!
There was an amazing lightning storm last night over by Eunice. I don't know if it ever made it to Hobbs because I went to bed, but it was the neatest thing I've ever seen! I really wish I knew the cloud-to-ground strikes! I wonder how you find that out??? I stood outside and repeatedly took shots with my camera, hoping I would catch some of the lightning strikes! It wasn't too hard, honestly, because there was so much lightning going on!

The lightning was a clear reminder (reminders are pretty much daily for me) of how amazing God is! The lightning storm was BEAUTIFUL to watch! I am so grateful I was able to capture such beauty with my camera! I might even become a storm watcher! (ok, I won't go that far...haha) What an amazing creator! Everything he makes is in such detail. He cares so much about the details - the small things that make up one big thing. I think the reason he cares so much about the details is because he knows it's the small things; the small steps we take, the small tasks we conquer - while focusing on the big picture - doing what we can, when we can...that one day make us look back and think, "WOW! How did I ever do all of that?" It makes life LESS overwhelming, and we can credit the grace of God for our ability to conquer so much!
I look at it like in a job setting: we feel so overwhelmed by the stack of work, the list of things that need to be done..but as we conquer just one task at a time, usually by prioritizing, we get through it so much faster than we thought we ever could.
So then I think, "Ok God, how do I know what task should be the most important for my life? How do I know your will for my life?" The answer is simple...pray. Prayer is so important when we consider the 'details'. Those things that are constantly in your thoughts?? Those are the things God is prompting you to take care of. Those things you just keep putting off, even though you KNOW you need to get them done?? Those are the things God is prompting you to take care of.
{Side Note - I don't know how I got back to this point...I wasn't even trying to incorporate what I read today in my daily devotional, but here I am! Another 'daily reminder' of how God truly amazes me!}
God provided a prayer in the Bible that we can use to receive the wisdom and understanding we need for this critical time we live in. If we are going to keep up, we must know God's perfect plan for our life - and how to carry it out in His power! Here is that prayer:
"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfulness" (Colossians 1:9-11)
So to you who is reading this - I ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. I pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of god, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfulness!
