The Best Sugar Cookies EVER!!...

I discovered the best sugar cookie recipe! I cannot make a batch without devouring more than anyone else, so beware of this recipe! I am considering opening up my own cookie business! (haha just kidding!) They stay soft and fresh for a long time if kept in a air tight container!

Here is the recipe...

Ingredients:

1 (cup) butter, softened
1 (3 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
1 (cup) sugar
1 egg
1 (tsp.) vanilla extract (Adam's Best brand highly recommended)
2 1/2 (cups) all-purpose flour
1/4 (tsp.) salt

Frosting:

3 (cups) confectioners' sugar (powered sugar)
1/3 (cup) butter, softened
2 (tbsp.) milk
1 1/2 (tsp.) vanilla extract
**Food coloring for color if desired

In a large bowl, cream the butter, cream cheese and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine flour and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture just until blended. Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours or until easy to handle.

On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8" thickness. Cut with cookie cutters dipped in flour. Place 1" apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 7-8 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool for 1 minute before removing to wire rack.

In a small bowl, beat frosting ingredients until smooth. Add food coloring if desired. Decorate cookies with frosting and sprinkles as desired.

***Keep a close eye on the cookies the first batch to determine how long to leave them in...each oven is different! And look at the bottom edges of the cookies, not the top - the bottom edges will turn a golden brown and that is when they are ready!***

Enjoy!!

I've said it once, and I'll say it again...you cannot go wrong with sugar, butter, and cream cheese! It is the trifecta of baking. I can't wait to make these!
